Overlooking the tunnel entrance to the loop line, as BR Standard Class 5 No.73162 guides a Yorkshire bound mixed freight over the long sweeping viaduct and onto the Mickelhurst loop.

Stanier Class 5
No.44669 leaves Stalybridge on the old line via Mossley on 22nd July 1966. The train is the 5:38PM (FO) Manchester (Exchange) to York Express.

Taken on 16th July 1966. The island Platform was triangular in shape with the apex pointing towards the incline down to Manchester Victoria Station..
